Importance of Bhakti

Intellectual acceptance of the infinite glory of the supreme being is no doubt necessary but it has to be realised as the very truth in one's ineer awareness. This is the beginning of the growth of Jnana that can nurture bhakti and lead to salvation. This realisation is within one's reach only during human birth for as human beings endowed with the facuties of the senses and also with the mind and intellect, it is possible to strive to realise God.

That the miraculous grace of Goddess Kamakshi flowed as excellent poetryny to the extent of Her grace. The devotion to the Goddess evinced by this poet/Acharya is a beacon of light for us to develop bhakti.

In a verse the poet celebrates Her kindness that restored Manmatha to life. The episode of Lord Siva burning Manmatha to ashes with His third eye is alluded here.Scriptures state that any wrongdoing will be punished and one has to atone for it.Manmatha had disturbed the penance of Siva and was duly punished. But what was the fault of Rathi?.The sorrowing Rathi prayed to Parvathi seeking Her succour. With Parvathi's intervention,Siva gave Manmatha to Rathi but without a human form.

There is no doubt that her grace can remove our failings and guide our thought, word and deed towards salvation.

If we surrender ourselves at the feet of the Divine mother, She will help us to make us
self-realised souls.
