His infinite glory

The Bhagavad Gita manages to convey the forceful effect of God's absolute supremacy to the common man who is exposed largely to the limiting effects of Time and Space. That is why though many of us accept a powerful God,the magnitude of His omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence is not really fully experienced in our consciousness. But when he proclaims it unmistakably,"I am the father of this world, the mother, the dispenser, the grandsire, that which is to be known, the purifier, the Pranava and the Vedas", the truth begins to assume an immediate reality in our lives.

The Lord accepts the reaponsibility of taking care of all the beings in His creation and this unselfish, helpful, beneficient attitude that spells His finite compassion endears us to Him.He is always there to protect and provide for our needs. His love for all beings in unsurpassed. He is capable of all this and more since He is present everywhere,at all times.

What a great fortune the entire universe enjoys, when thus mothered and fathered by the all powerful Lord?.Nothing on earth or on all the different worlds that exist can claim to be unrelated to Him.The past, present and future are all subsumed in His infinitude. He is the cause of the entire universe and is responsible for its functioning.

He proclaims that His Maya is all powerful and many of us are unable to recognise His greatness. We are deluded by the glitter of the world and get entangled in it.With every birth we accumulate Karma and thus the baggage gets extended without our knowing the extent of what we carry.

But the omniscient Lord knows what we were earlier and how to lead us to the right path.He is the constant witness of all our acts, including our innermost thought wave.

The Lord is our only succour. The Jivatma realising His glory now knows that He alone deserves to be worshipped. We can not offer Him anything because the entire universe (including each of us) is His possession. With a clear mind and heart we can only offer sincere worship. This Bhakthi helps to reduce the distance between us and the Lord.
