The Lord has promised that He would incarnate whenever
there is threat to dharma by adharma, to destroy the evilforces and protect the good. Rama and Krishna avatars
reinforce His commitment to protect the entire creation at
all costs. More significant is the path to salvation from the
cycle of birth that is revealed in His proclamation of succor
in both avatars, pointed out Kalyanapuram Sri R.
Aravamudhachariar in a discourse.
Krishna announces that anyone who seeks surrender at
His feet is sure to be released from the fear of samsara andthe bondage of sin. As Rama, He has already established this ultimate vow in various contexts when He has relieved the fear from dangers and has protected those who seek His
grace. Vedanta Desika’s text Abhaya Pradhana Sara discusses the Saranagati Sastra in detail and shows how this doctrine is the very essence of the Ramayana. In the context of accepting Vibhishana from the enemy camp, Rama reinforces His vow of protection to all beings when one surrenders unconditionally at His feet. The Lord vows to accept all when they seek refuge in Him. He is even prepared to overlook individual faults or merits. All erring jivatmas find solace and hope of redemption in this promise. Though Rama has taken a human form, His Paratva is always inherent in Him. It surfaces when He accepts Vibhishana and when He states that His dharma is such that He cannot reject anyone who comes to Him for refuge. Even if Ravana comes he would be accepted, says Rama.
Such is his mercy that He announces that there is no need
for anyone at anytime to fear anything from any quarter. He stands by those who acknowledge Him as their master and offer their service to Him. This is the essence of the Vedas, the truth expressed by the rishis.
