God-like saint

When the Pallava King sends for him,
Thirunavukkarasar says he is not intimidated by the king’s threats. He says he cannot be controlled by the rules laid down by a king. He is unafraid to die. He will not suffer the agony of Hell. He does not know what
sickness is. He will not bow before anyone. Everyday is a day of joy and bliss, and he knows no suffering. He will bow before Lord Siva and will not bow to anyone else. The list that Thirunavukkarasar gives is
reminiscent of the Lord’s qualities. The Lord is answerable to no one, knows nothing but bliss, and does not know illness, or death. The Lord grants such strength of character to those who serve him so that they remain unaffected by anything.

God is the One who creates and destroys. Once life has departed from the body, it can never be restored. In case this happens it is a miracle only God is capable of. Yet, Thirunavukkarasar was able to restore the life of a dead boy, said R. Narayanan in a discourse. When the son of Appoodhi Adigal was bitten by a snake,Thirunavukkarasar brought him back to life, thereby showing that God invests such saints with powers
beyond our imagination.

In one of his many devotional verses,
Thirunavukkarasar says that one should worship Him in every way possible. The head is intended to bow before the One who holds a skull in His hand.
