A mother's benediction

The Lord is the Supreme ruler and, in the manner of an absolute king.He has a direct hold on the working of the entire universe comprising animate and the inanimate. When He incarnated as Rama or Krishna,He lived among the people, enjoying or suffering along with them, though He is not subject to the law of Karma as other beings are.

In the Rama Avatar, He has shown by example how righteousness has to be protected by every individual in one's thought, word and deed.

When Rama visits His mother Kousalya to inform her about His departure to the forest and get her permission, the legitimate concerns of a fond mother surge into a sorrowful outburst. She is unable to digest this harsh news. What inscrutable destiny has impelled Him to go to the forest? How could the young prince forego the palace life and live in the forest? What would He eat? Where would He sleep?

When she requests Him to take her along with Him,Rama reminds her of her duties to Dasaratha. She then reconciles herself to her lot and wishes auspiciousness to Him.She advises Him to abide in the foot steps of the virtuous and bids farewell with the protective benediction,"Let that righteousness, which you are fostering with courage and discipline, protect you".

Sage Valmiki wrote the Ramayana with divine inspiration and yogic power to discern the legend of the virtuous and divine Rama.he was witness to a sorrowful scene:a hunter's arrow had cruelly ended the joy of a pair of Krouncha birds.

The sage was so moved by the pathos of the situation that he cursed the hunter for his deed. But the curse came out in the form of a perfect verse,an epilogue to the grand epic renowned for its beauty, simplicity, poetic richness and literary excellences even as it describes the worldly life of joy and sorrow and of the righteousness so crucial to human existence.

valmiki taught the same to Lava and Kusha who sang this in august assembly of the people of Ayodhya. It is said that the narration enthralled the entire audience, including Rama.
